How we became "Jen & Ken" - Part 1

In April of 2007 I was living with my Aunt Jeanine. I was planning on moving back to Provo and for the first time I would have roomates (Julie & Karen) that I actually knew. It was going to be an epic Summer. We wanted to try a new apartment complex, but after days of driving around Provo we still wound up right back at Carriage Cove. Karen & Julie moved in before me so I would visit them to start moving boxes over (I have A LOT of stuff).

On one of these nights there was a party so I decided on the spur of the moment to stay the night. I didn't know it then, but this is the night I would meet my future husband. It's funny because most nights I would think to myself "I wonder if I will meet my future husband tomorrow" knowing one of these days it HAD to be true. This was that very day.

We had to go to the mall so I could buy clothes for the party. I bought a cute black plaid skirt from Express and a black top to go with it. We got all dressed up and used Julie's "Dream Angels Divine" perfume and were on our way. Karen Bennett's twin sister Linda was having a party in her apartment so we stopped there first.

I was sitting on the couch and sitting on the coffe table in front of me was a very attractive young man. I decided I had nothing to lose so I looked at him and when he looked back at me I did not break eye contact (later he told me he found this intriguing). I smiled at him, but he made no move to talk to me so I figured he must not be interested and Julie, Karen, and I left for another party at Bellmont where I met a boy I rather liked and gave him my phone number. I forgot all about the boy at the party who would one day change my life. Seriously, I forgot about him. If Ken hadn't remembered seeing me at that party and my holding eye contact with him I would not have remembered that we had met already.

  1. Hey, I remember going to that party at Bellmont. I don't remember stopping at Linda's first though. I love your ramblings.

  2. Yeah it was her roomates party. I didn't know her roomate so we didn't stay long. Maybe just Julie & I went, but you probably would have come to Linda's I would imagine. Oh well.
