How we became "Jen & Ken" - Part 3

I got back from the family reunion Sunday evening just in time to change and go to ward prayer. There are several traditions of Provo singles wards you might not know if you never lived there so I should explain some customs. On Sunday evening each ward had "ward prayer" at the club house of the complex. An apartment was assigned to provide a talk, a prayer, and something cute get to know you thing. We had a basket where each member put in things that represented them and then the next apartment to take over got the basket. After ward prayer comes "Munch and Mingle" at the apartment of the same people in charge. Everyone gathers to eat sugar and flirt. This is often unofficially followed by a game night in some one's apartment. Sunday's in Provo were always fun and a great chance to meet people.

So, I went to ward prayer with my roommates where I just so happened to see Ken on my way up to the clubhouse and sat by him on the couch. After the rituals were over a group of people were going to play night games so I went to my room to change into black clothing. As I was getting ready I got a call from Ken who invited me to come play night games with a bunch of friends. I didn't tell him I was already going, but I thanked him and ran to tell Julie about it. Again, I didn't want to read too much into it, but I said it couldn't be a bad sign that he had personally invited me to play.

Ah, I found my journal entry so I will let 2007 Jen tell the story since she had it fresh on her mind. Plus she is less in love with Ken at the time so her head is clearer.

When I got back it was almost time for ward prayer. So I put on a cute outfit, pulled my hair back, and prayed perfume hoping to hide my recent return from camping. I think it worked because I got a few compliments. On my way over I ran into Ken so I sat by him during ward prayer. Munch and Mingle was rather crowded so I left early with Linda and we came to my apartment and were joined by Karen, Andrew, and then Topher brought us his homemade ice cream and invited us to play tag on some playground equipment.

I swiftly got ready to go and as I was doing so Ken called to invite me to play. I said I would and figured his call couldn’t be a bad sign. I was trying not to read into it though. We went and the cops kicked us off of the playground before we began, but said we could play in the field next to it for an hour. So we played Buddy Tag, and another form of tag where the it person becomes a huge group. I was able to run surprisingly fast and catch some of the guys. I don’t know where that speed came from, but it was fun. I took the opportunity to link with Ken when I could. I have been looking around at all of these activities and have yet to find one I like more than Ken so I continued to flirt with him the most. It was a pretty fun night anyways.
