Going Healthy - Day 10

So, on Wednesday September 7th I went to Green Smoothie Girl's (Robyn Openshaw) class in Layton. It was really neat. I bought some flax and Vegan Protein powder I could only find online. I also decided to make it more fun by buying some raffle tickets. I knew the chances of winning were pretty slim, but there was alot of stuff being raffled off and I thought it would be fun to at least try to win. So I bought 8 tickets and off I went.

The class was really great. She told her own story and about all the research she did to get her information. She did a smoothie demonstration and talked about health and I loved it. It was great to be in a room of people who feel like I do and to know that I am not alone. It made me want my blendtec blender even more when I saw her make a huge smoothie in no time. I have wanted that thing for over a year now. Ken said we could make it a reward for my 21 day diet, but I know that even if I make it we can't actually afford it. We just bought plane tickets to Ohio for Thanksgiving and we are hoping to close on our house by the end of the month. Not really possible.

Well, towards the end I actually did win something. I won a healthy holiday cookbook which was great because I had really wanted one. When I went up front to get it she asked me to stay and help pass out prizes so I did. It came to the end and I felt a little silly standing in front of everyone checking my tickets. When she got to the last item, the blendtec blender she started reading numbers and I was in a state of shock for a moment before I yelled out in front of everyone "THAT'S ME!!!" I could not believe it. I have never won anything like that before. I waited after class to meet her and get a picture with her and all my new healthy stuff. Those blenders cost $430! I was so excited I had to stop myself from skipping to the car and I called Ken, my mom, and my aunts on the way home. They were really happy for me. They know how much I wanted this blender and how awesome they are.

Aunt Wendy was funny because Austin was clearly sleeping so she was trying to squeal for me very quietly. I am just so grateful. On the way to the class I was praying "if there is any way I could get that blender that would be wonderful, if someone else needs it more that's OK too, but if I could possibly get it that would be great." Ha ha.

I came home and started blending and reading recipes and getting excited. It was so powerful it scared me at first. It is so nice to not push down the frozen fruit with a fork and wait forever. It makes the smoothies so smooth they turn to liquid when they melt. I also threw away my whey protein powder and have completed another step to getting healthy. I just want to learn everything I can and make good habits before I have kids. Also, it will probably help me to get pregnant. Man if I could get pregnant without that nasty Clomid that would be great. Anyways, great day and great experience. Here are some pictures.

  1. Hi, I came on here through Green Smoothie Girl. I am trying to eat better also and have been going to her site for awhile now. I just wanted to suggest a site called blenditandmendit.com. I found the site by accident but, she has some great videos making various green smoothies, almond milk and natural sweeteners. I know green smoothies can get boring and she shows many different ones you can make. BTW, I have no ties to the site what so ever and she is not selling anything. Videos are on utube too.
