I weighed in today at 143.3. Yesterday was 143.5 so I think the weight loss honeymoon is over. I must have flushed the toxins and now it's time to lose weight slowly, or rather more normaly. Below is my weight graph over the last few months. I went back and forth when I started working out consistlently, but you can see I didn't really make any progress until I started the smoothie diet.

Today was fast Sunday so I fasted. It was really hard. I was super sore from yesterday's work out and hiking adventure and hungry and by 2pm I was feeling so faint I kept getting light headed and needed to sit down. So I decided to have a smoothie. I made another smoothie after church and tried mustard greens, but even though I used extra berries and a tiny amount of mustard greens it was very bitter and hard to drink. By the evening I was feeling miserable. I had been feeling weird all day so Ken and I agreed I could start my healthy dinners now. I got out recipes to shop tomorrow and counted my calories for the day. So now, the deal is that I have to count calories on days I do more than smoothies and I can only eat healthy things and try new salads and foods from 12 steps to whole foods and my Aunt Wendy. Unprocessed, glueten free, dairy free, etc. We agreed that was a good goal for 21 days and then I won't get burnt out and hate my smoothies. Wendy even suggested I watch myself emotionally and make lifestyle changes that will last. So, I am switching over to a mostly smoothie diet. If I don't make the good food, or count the caloires then I only get a smoothie. I think it's a good deal. I am really glad I did the straight smoothies for a week to drop off those extra pounds so quick, make me look and feel good, and break some really bad habits.
If you're feeling miserable and burnt out, then cutting back a bit might be a good idea. Moderation is usually a good strategy.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I got curious and searched for "green smoothies" and came across some bizarre pseudoscience about alkaline water, people only having "35 years worth of enzymes", etc. I think we have enough reasons to try to eat fresh fruits and vegetables without having to make stuff up. :)
Anyway, good luck with your efforts to set healthy habits. We all have room for improvement.
